Meet Paige

Thursday, 12 September 2019
In a nutshell, I am a 21-year-old lover of food, home interiors, fitness, beauty and I'm a self-proclaimed cheese-board snob. After taking a year and a half hiatus from blogging I am back and I can't wait for the future. I love unleashing my creative side and I am so excited to show you a sneak peek into my life. This blog is an open book to how I live my life and how I am learning to love myself wholeheartedly.

Originally when I started this blog I was living in a big city and studying at uni, my intentions were to write about things that I was going through or experiencing however, now my life looks a little different. I am engaged, have gone back to studying, living in a much smaller city and the most exciting part my fiancé and I are renovating our gorgeous 1920s' bungalow. A lot has changed overtime and now I want to create content that inspires not only me but also you, my reader. I want this to be a place we can both come to get away from the stresses of life whether that be crying children, uni assignments or windows that need sanding; with that said grab a cup of coffee, tea or whatever takes your fancy and find a comfy sunny spot to sit down, curl up and have a read. I can’t wait to share my journey with you.

Lois May Blogger Interview

Wednesday, 5 July 2017
A while ago I wrote a blog post on my favourite bloggers, this is an interview with Lois May which was featured in that blog post.

What made you get into blogging?
I started to follow a lot of blogging and YouTube influencers on Instagram and Twitter, got interested in their content and saw smaller bloggers engaging with this content. I was interested in the blogosphere after being exposed more to it and decided that I wanted to take it up as a hobby. I originally set up a blog during my second year of University but didn’t take it seriously so deleted it. I regret this now as I would love to go back to the blog posts that I wrote. I started to get seriously into blogging at the beginning of my final year studying. I have an interest in the marketing career field as a potential career choice so thought that a blog would help my chances of gaining experience to start off with. I then realized I enjoyed it more as a hobby than a work experience.

In one sentence how would you describe yourself?
I would say that I am people smart, I am quite rational and see two sides to every story, even if I don’t agree with both sides.

In one sentence how would you describe your blog?
My blog is a personal outlook into my life as I deal with content surrounding lifestyle, beauty, dating, relationships health, fitness, wellness and university; this is why I titled my blog LifeAsLoisMay as I knew I wouldn’t stick to one blogging niche.

What is the most interesting blog-related thing you have done/accomplished?
I don’t think that I have accomplished much with my blog at the moment because I have only been blogging for five months. However, off the top of my head I would say that I am most proud and overwhelmed with the amount of positive feedback I got with my ’12 things every bisexual girl hears’ post. It is currently my top viewed blog post and a lot of people who also belong to the LGBTQ+ community have shown it a lot of support and given their personal opinions on the subject matter.

I think that my sexuality content has shown the most personal feedback and shows that my experiences are an accomplishment, allowing me to express myself.

What do you enjoy writing about most on your blog?
I love writing content about sexuality and relationships the most at the moment. Of course some days I will want to do more beauty related content but I enjoy reading sexuality/relationship/dating posts the most and these are what I enjoy writing about.

What is one thing you wish you knew when you first started blogging?
I wrote a post about things I wish that I knew before I started blogging and the thing that I wish I knew the most was how much time is taken up by blogging as a hobby. I love blogging and I think that the behind the scenes of blogging comes naturally to me, due to studying marketing and working in media environments, but it just takes a lot of time and effort. I love blogging but I do find that it can be a little overwhelming sometimes with the amount of effort needed to keep on top of it all.

What post are you most proud of?

  • 12 things every bisexual girl hears
  • 30 thoughts students have in their final term of Uni
  • The excitement of a new partner
  • Balancing Blogging and University
  • My love/hate relationship with dating apps
  • What I have learnt from blogging

Where do you see your blog in 5 years’ time?
I have always had basic expectations of where I would be with anything in x amount of years time. Of course, I would love my blog to be read by more viewers and to influence more content creators like they do to me.

When you first started blogging did you see your blog going in the direction it has?
I started my blog thinking that I was going to be a ‘lifestyle blogger’ because that is what I saw a lot of bloggers say that they were. I quickly realized that I wanted to tackle all varieties of topics. I would give someone the advice to not follow the trends of what they think is good but write about what they would want to read.

Do you ever feel anxious about posting certain posts, especially when it comes to your dating posts?
Of course, I have felt anxious about publishing certain blog posts when it comes to my dating life. I think that ones such as the ‘life update #4 | I’ve forgotten how to date’ is all fun and games but the more recent ones where I mention a current partner and my experiences of this relationship is a little overwhelming to publish. I am very private, never mention names or post pictures of partners, even friends for that matter so I am not anxious that I am giving away too much information. I do think that some of the posts may help others though as I think my experiences might give someone the advice they may be looking for.

Lastly, what is the one piece of advice you would give to new bloggers?

As I said a couple of points back I would give someone the advice to not follow the trends of what they think is good but write about what they would want to read. In the early stages of blogging I was thinking of creating posts that were just the trends of other content creators but found that I had ‘writers block’ because I simply didn’t want to write content about those things. I wanted to write about dating, sexuality and life updates. I enjoy reading this content so created my own from personal experiences.

Nerd About Town Blogger Interview

Monday, 3 July 2017
A little while ago I did a blog post on my three favourite bloggers. This is an interview with Stephanie from 'Nerd about town'.

What made you get into blogging?
I started blogging in 2013 as a beauty blogger. Even though I had a huge love of fashion, I was still at a stage in my life where I felt incredibly insecure and too scared to post full-length photos of myself.
It wasn’t until I joined the plus size/fat positivity community that I began to find my confidence and self-esteem and finally dress to express myself.

In one sentence how would you describe yourself?
A fat, stylish outspoken trollop from South London.

In one sentence how would you describe your blog?
A clusterfuck of awesome styles, motivational writings, and humour!

What is the most interesting blog-related thing you have done/accomplished?
I recently became an ambassador for Reek Perfume and

Why did you choose fashion as your main niche?
I use fashion as a way to express myself and to also show other plus size ladies that we can wear whatever the hell we want and still look fierce.

Have your posts around self-esteem and body confidence helped yourself (I have definitely found them inspiring)?
Definitely; my posts are the products of epiphanies and lessons I’ve had to learn over the years – any time I feel low or short of confidence, I sometimes go back and re-read old posts!

What is one thing you wish you knew when you first started blogging?
I wish I would have known how competitive it could be. Not specifically me against other people; me against myself. When you have been blogging for as long as I have, you can sometimes put an unnecessary amount of pressure on yourself to have the ‘perfect’ blog and content but at the end of the day, it’s all about being true to yourself – that’s what people respond to.

What post are you most proud of?
I’m a fan of my ‘Black Lives Matter, Especially to Bloggers’ – it’s important for those who have the platform to speak up about important social issues do so.

Where do you see your blog in 5 years’ time?
Hopefully at a place that continually churns out awesome content. In 5 years I would have liked to model for a plus size brand or even have my own capsule collection – that is my dream!

You are gorgeous and have so much confidence, what is one piece of advice you would give to young women who are insecure or have body issues?
Thank you! Recognize that the path to self love is a long and tricky one and you will have good days and bad days. You have to have the belief that you DESERVE to be here. You DESERVE to wear whatever you want to wear and you DESERVE to be treated with the same respect that everyone else deserves. You matter, you are important and you are loved.

Lastly, what is the one piece of advice you would give to new bloggers?

I know that it can be a little intimidating as the sector is saturated with bloggers, but as long as you have passion for what you write about and produce good content, as well as engage with your readers, you will be fine!

Creating a balanced life

Wednesday, 21 June 2017

Lately, my schedule has gotten crazy busy and I am finding it harder to find time for myself and having a balanced lifestyle. It is important that we take time out for ourselves and understand how important it is to have a good mix of things. Here are ten things I have done to help keep a good life balance.

1. Removed emails from my phone.
I still have my personal emails on my phone for uni related stuff, however, I have removed my blog emails eventually I want to remove emails completely but that will take time. This was an adjustment the first night that I didn't have my emails I had replied to quite a few potentially exciting emails as well as some more boring ones during the day. I was awaiting a reply when I went to bed that night and like anyone my age I scroll on my phone for hours before I go to sleep (I know it's bad for me I'm working on it) and during that time I would normally continually check my emails however, I couldn't do this and I hadn't even realised that I do this. I ended up on my laptop till 1am and when I did finally get to sleep I awoke at 5 am and looked at my phone, tried to check my phone emails and remembered I couldn't. Which yes resulted in me opening my laptop while half asleep to check my emails, were there any? N,o it was 5 am for goodness sake! It has gotten easier over the week although I still find myself on my laptop checking emails which is ridiculous and something I am working on.

2. Take time out for yourself
For me, my 'happy' time is the hour I spend at the beach every Monday morning with my Starbucks, it's simple but with a busy schedule, it is my one hour that I can totally relax and leave the worrying to another time.

3. Take 10mins in the morning to tidy.
This can be anything from making your bed, putting away your washing or doing dishes.  I spend ten minutes every morning tidying up, that means that I have a clean and clear work-space and house for the rest of the day and I can use cleaning as an excuse for not doing work that I need to do. That ten minutes in the morning has also changed the other things I do now if I get something out I put it away immediately because I know will have to do it anyway.

How do you create balance? Do you think it is important to have a work/life balance?
